New Student Checklist

The college you decide to attend will help you through the admissions and registration process, but here's an overview of what you can expect.

  • Complete and submit an application for the college of your choice and pay a nominal application fee.
  • Apply for financial aid using FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which takes factors like your family's financial status into consideration. The FAFAS also serves as your application for the Tennessee Education Lottery (HOPE) Scholarship.
  • Submit applicable transcripts and test scores to the Admissions Office of the college.
  • Schedule placement testing, if required.
  • Submit required health and vaccination forms.
  • Schedule a new student advising appointment to meet with an academic advisor and get your college experience off to a great start.
  • Register for classes and pay your tuition and fees or ensure your financial aid is in place to cover the tuition for your courses.
  • Have your student ID made, obtain a parking decal and buy your textbooks using your class schedule or syllabus as a reference to purchase the textbooks you'll need before the first day of class.
  • Arrive on campus ready to learn and ready to take advantage of the rich campus life and all the student activities Tennessee's Community Colleges have to offer!
